The day after christmas.. Hua and I decided to go to the chinatown heritage tour.. Why?? cos its CHEAP..hahaha we have so little money left.. we decided to go somewhere cheap.. this costs only $5 per person..hahaha




Welcome to Chinatown!













The story begins with the Chinese travelling to Nanyang *aka Singapore* to get earn a living..






















This is when the opium comes in.. and pple started taking opium.. so societies were formed.. which the government decided have to be registered.. WHICh in turned caused the SECRET societies to be formed *they cant be registered.. so becomes secret*






As u can see.. there was a fight..haha a dagger stuck in the table somemore.. arghh..











According to them.. the Chinese men came here right? and they left their wives back in China.. so.. where do they find COMFORT? Prostitutes lo.. MEN! anyway.. ya.. so there came the prostitutes.. aka Ah Gu.. this is their room..






I dun really remember what is this abt.. its jus an old kind of coffeeshop i think..haha looks really like HK cafe..hee

During the Jap occupation.. pple started selling on the street.. and it became a trend after that..











Look carefully.. they are selling reptiles.. yuckz.. haha Chinese really eats anything in the world man.. imagine selling these on the street now..

Here comes the best part of the place.. this model of the house the chinese used to stay.. its supposed to be a five story house.. looks big from outside.. but unlike today.. they are sooooo many pple living under one root.. and this is taken from the second story.. from the corridor..







This is the room of a family who sells street food.. and its a room for a FAMILY.. not one person..










This is the room of samsui women.. u can see the uniform hanging there.. and i think its a room for 3 samsui women..

This is the worse.. the room of shoemaker.. its so crowded la.. so many shoes.. dun even have place to walk..










I cant remember who;s room is this.. but i remember its a family of 5.. and this room is for the father and two sons..











This is the room of the Ma Jie.. meaning the women who work for a rich family.. like a maid plus nanny..









This is the five-foot corridor.. See how narrow it is.. only enough space for one person to walk pass.. and there are so many pple living there..














Room for three coolies.. and look closer.. they smoke opium.. so typical for coolies.. haiz..

Merry Christmas everybody!!!! This year.. Hua and I celebrated Christmas together!! All we wanted was to dress up.. haha and then have fine dining..haha a quiet christmas.. hee.. so.. we decided to go suntec to watch Alvin and the chipmunks.. and then to Charcoal Shatec for fine dining..



Yupz.. new hairstyle.. jus the fringe.. its not really nice..haha i noe.. so i'm now waiting for it to grow longer and bring it back to the old hairstyle..haha actually i like the style.. at least pple spot u easily.. but my face too round..haha anyway.. this is taken on the mrt.. and our journey begins!







New style.. not so comfortable in it though.. but it makes me look less fat..haha and for ur info.. i have grown so much.. i only look better in t-shirts.. GREAT.. haiz.. anyway.. i like black stockings too.. cos i got scars on my legs.. so this covers up.. and it makes my legs look longer..hee

What we had for christmas is a 4-course meal.. first up.. appetizer..










This is the appetizer.. its GOOOOD.. hee.. got mussel.. scallops.. and then wat's that in the middle.. i dunno..but its the tastiest..hee









Dun be fooled by my happy face.. that drink is DISGUSTING.. its called the tequila sunrise.. the waitress said its popular there.. like YUCKS.. its tastes like Medicine.. really.. its terrible.. worse then any alcohol drink i ever had.. None of us can take it.. so we left the drink there..there goes out $8..







Next up.. soup.. this pumpkin and tomato soup.. its Yummy!! and the bread is really crispy.. excellent!!











Third course.. Choose either beef steak.. which is what i chose.. its not fantastic.. not too bad though.. and i couldnt finish it.. it looks little.. but its actually alot..








Or.. u can choose this salmon wrap.. we didnt choose this.. it came by mistake.. and i jus took a photo of it.. it looks really delicious.. smells tempting too.. but hua didnt order this.. so we had to change..








This is wat she ordered.. turkey.. and it really looks not as tasty as the salmon.. haha she regretted it sooo much.. haha and she couldn finish it too..haha

Last course.. Dessert.. hee.. this is the goooood.. its log cake * its the best log cake i had.. cos my impression of the log cakes i had before.. isnt tooo good* Served with tea.. which i added so much milk and sugar..haha

Then we started taking photos again..and that's it.. we went back to hua place.. i stayed over, watched over the hedge and final destination.. hee..









That day was hilarious.. we took the train.. and we were so engrossed in laughing.. we didnt realised it stopped at amk until the lights went out.. and so we laughed our way out of the train and then I said "let's jus go BUY 169" then hua started laughing "haha.. buy lehz.. ok.. i'm done.. already" hahahahaa we were nuts.. like we were drunk like that.. then we staggered our way to the bus interchange.. cant even walk straight.. hahha *we didnt drink any alcohol.. not alot anyway* I laughed so hard i was having stomach cramps la..

Then we boarded the bus.. and hua was soooo calm when she said "there are so many cockroaches.. " then she pointed.. kaoz! it was everywhere!!! on the floor.. on the windows.. on the top.. arghh!! so we stood up and decided to stand the whole journey.. then the wonderful bus driver drove soooooooo fast.. until we were like having a rollercoaster ride.. literally!! every time he approaches a bend.. we go.. "here we go!" and when someone presses the button or flag the bus.. I said "great.. that stupid XXX why muz he alight here?! or why muz they board the bus?~!!" haha.. cos every time it stops or moves.. we have a hard time holding on man.. arghh. by the end of the bus ride.. i almost puked.. horrible..

Anyway.. i still had a GREAT time.. hua hasnt be sober since..hahaha I mean.. she jus told me.. "Jhonny *the koreans spelled it this way* really looks like Henry *from the show Jin Sanshun*.. do all America borned koreans look like that?!" I was like.. huh?? Jhonny IS Henry wat! its the same person?! SAME! Hua.. see ar.. Jhonny=Henry=Jhonny=ABK.. omg.. its like the second last episode of the show and she didnt even noe its the SAME fellow..

Yst.. monday.. I went to orchard with Wei Yi and Nan Jun to shop.. before they leave for China.. anyway.. I brought them to the Turkish restaurant at Far east..hee.. thought it would be interesting for them to try something different.. *and of cos.. I have a plan in mind..hee*





This is wat i ordered.. Iskander set.. its chicken.. with tomato sauce.. and yogurt.. very unique.. its not bad.. jus tat the portion is alittle tooo big.,









On the left.. is Wei yi's doner set.. basically chicken kebab..haha with fries.. and then in the middle is salad plate.. a must have.. cos its unique.. you can choose what ever salad u want.. as long as u squeeze them into one serving plate..



Here comes the most exciting part..hehehe.. I kept tell them I wanted to have ice cream.. cos its UNIQUE..haha and u really wun find it outside.. why?? check it out!

It was so funny.. I tricked Wei yi first.. but I didnt manage to save the video cos my hp went flat.. so.. Wei yi who was still pissed for being tricked.. decided to trick nan jun by making her buy another ice cream for her..hahaha I love Nan Jun's reaction..haha

Holiday!!

Finally!! Holiday!!! all the way until next year.. hee.. so happy.. anyway.. the moment its holiday.. i have plans! first up.. right after my last day of work.. its HK cafe AGAIN.. hee





The moment we got there.. we saw it was soooo packed.. and.. take a closer look.. they are all guys.. then.. look at what are some of them wearing..













This is the other side of the cafe.. now.. guess.. what are these pple doing? why do they all have the SAME expression.. that intense look..hahaha well.. of cos its.. SOCCER.. *again* Why?? why is watching 22 guys chasing a damn ball interesting???













And once again.. FOOD.. firstly.. the milk tea is a must.. and this time.. i felt like eating veg.. so i ordered.. cabbage roll.. not fantastic though.. haha









Ah hua ordered spaghetti.. this is the best dish there.. at least to wat i have eaten there so far..









Healthy me wanted to have soup.. and the waiter wanted to translate the name of this soup into eng.. which he couldnt..hahaha cos it was so long.. its.. tomato egg beancurd soup..haha its tasty too.. and on the very top left corner.. its butterfly shrimp wanton.. haha its a dish we MUST order everytime we are there..hee..





After that meal.. we went home.. and my poor dear was having fever and is still having fever on and off.. so i went over to "take care" of him.. poor dear..

Last Monday.. Ah dear brought me to East coast park to rollerblade.. *finally* However, the shop was closed.. so we had to make do with the bicycle.. but i didnt wan to ride alone..so we rent the two seater one..hee.. then we rode.. it was quite scary cos ah dear so wobbly one..haha anyway.. we got to the jetty.. and saw so many pple fishing.. THEN.. we see this uncle who started to struggle with the fish rod.. dear said it muz be a huge one cos the way he was struggling.. sure enough.. check it out!

Yst was Charlene's 21st bday.. and we were invited to dinner at this popular steamboat place at bendemeer rd.. opp old serangoon fire station.. its very good.. anyway.. invited by her mother..haha and it was so funny.. I was late due to the imtermezzo.. the moment i sat down.. i was greeted by two bottles of heineken.. *how to spell* and i was shocked.. cos.. we have known lene's mother for years.. and what i was expecting was a quiet dinner.. and healthy food..hahahah but NO.. we finish the steamboat.. and her mother kept asking if we still wanted chicken wings.. it was hilarious.. "do you guys wan chicken wings?" "chicken wings" every 15 min..haha and there were 2 bottles of heineken everytime we finished the 2 bottles we have.. we werent getting drunk.. but what's the best.. is.. her mother was stuffing us with lots of food.. VEG..haha in that one night.. we ate bean sprout.. cai xin.. kang kong.. eng cai.. we reckoned we have finshed all the veg they have.. haha And Da jun was saying we arent going to get drunk but stuffed to death..haha

And then.. there were some adult conversations.. such as the news.. *and you noe i dun watch the news* or some topics I can never understand.. too chim.. when bear was talking to her mum abt some farming and business stuff.. I turned around and told Da jun.. "gosh.. i cant understand and i cant cut in.. " he answered back "that's why i'm so quiet the whole dinner".. hhahha and it became a mission for us to cut in to every conversation..haha I looked and charlene and I couldnt help but laughed "haha.. its not jus us who cant cut in.. look at lene *who is sitting between bear and her mum* she is pretending she's listening" hahaha

There was this moment when melissa *lene's sis* managed to join the conversation.. Da jun and I panicked..hahahaa like.. we have to do it too..haha and Da Jun managed to join in!!! cos it was about F1 in Singapore.. great.. haha and i told Da jun "great.. now its jus me.. I muz join in!" and then lene's mum looked at me and said "its amazing how fast they managed to get the race ready" and i was really struggling to get an intelligent ans.. but all i could say was "ya... ......." hahaha Da jun laughed so loud la..haha idiot guy..

At another point.. The ladies started talking abt boobs..hahaha it was so funny.. like how big.. and how to make it bigger..hahaha and i turned to look at Da jun "I dare u to join this one" hahahahaa no way la..hahha So then.. after the long dinner.. after 10 bottles of heineken and so many veg.. Da Jun, Bear, Lene, Va and I decided to go to sembawang park..

Intermezzo

The music school I work at has this annual teacher's concert called Intermezzo.. and this year.. Cos I have nothing to perform.. great.. I had to be Santarina.. arghh.. though i am exempted for the rehearsals.. on that day.. I had to arrive at that venue at 11.30am.. and DO NOTHING.. absolutely nothing till 7pm.. and cos all my branch colleagues have to perform.. I was almost left alone.. luckily they were so kind to remember me..haha everytime they leave the stage.. they come back to the holding room to look for me.. and once i wasnt there.. cos i didnt noe if i would be disturbing... they actually looked for me..haha so sweeeet..hahhaa





There's Wei yi on my right and Nan jun, the new violin teacher at our branch.. and of cos the reason why i'm so red is cos i'm supposed to be a santarina who wears jeans..haha

Boiler's room

Charlene is finally back in Singapore.. but only for a few days.. Anyway.. the first day she came back.. we went to Timbre.. hee.. but I'm too lazy to upload the photos.. hee.. then we went to boiler's room.. It was a thursday night.. and even though boiler's room is supposed to be fully packed every weekend.. its almost EMPTY on a thurs night.. haha..

After that.. we left early.. and that Va said she is hungry.. so.. she suggested going holland V.. but sadly.. all the shops there are closed.. and walking aroung there really made us look OUTSTANDING.. like prostitutes.. gosh.. so we took a cab again.. and headed to the famous Chong Pang Nasi Lemak! hee.. Its the food lene would wanna have cos u dun get it in Aus.. while we were on our way there.. there was a police check.. then Va and I were fighting and struggling to snatch the buckle..haha to wear our seatbelts.. and its shocking cos we were actually asked to pull over.. ok.. for pple who doesnt noe.. its one in a million chance to be asked to pull over when u are in a cab.. cos we cant be drunk drinking.. cos we arent driving.. even the cab driver was shocked.. he said he drove for so many years and he never been asked to pull over during a police check.. then we had to alight somemore.. and pass them our i/c..as the meter continued to TICK.. arghhh.. so anyway.. there's only two possibilities... either we look too much like prostitutes.. or according to the cab uncle.. its becos it was a thurs night and these police jus have nothing else to do.. need to add some spice to their boring work..hee..
